TikTok star Moya David rakes in six-figure sum from surprise Dubai performance
TikTok has become a global platform for budding talents to showcase their skills, and Kenyan dancer David Muchiri, widely known as Moya David, is no exception.
The dancing sensation recently revealed he pocketed Sh830,000 for a surprise performance in Dubai, marking it as his highest-paid event to date.
In an interview with Oga Obinna, Moya David shared insights into the lucrative deal.
“The highest amount I’ve ever been paid was around Sh830,000. I can show proof if you doubt it,” said Moya David to Obinna.
Moya explained, “What happened was, I went to Dubai. So, when someone contacts me for an international job, it’s usually on the weekends. What happens is, if it’s a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday… He was from South Sudan. He wanted me to stay in Dubai for five days. I calculate those days because I also have many gigs here in the country. I calculate almost every day.”
Despite his demanding schedule, which typically includes four surprise events each on Saturdays and Sundays within the country, Moya David tailored his services to meet the client’s needs.
“I counted them. Four on Saturday, four on Sunday, and then I gave him the total. Because I’ll be out of the country,” he revealed.
Moreover, Moya David offers comprehensive packages to his clients, covering not only his performance fee but also additional services such as videography, accommodation, and security.
He says the affordability of these packages varies depending on the location and scope of the event.
“Currently, within Nairobi, I charge Sh29,000. But that package comes with a cake and gifts as well. The gift comes from me. If you calculate, it’s not like I charged you Sh29,000. Outside Nairobi, it starts from around Sh35,000.”
The dynamic dancer also highlighted the optional add-ons available to clients, such as having the surprise video posted on his social media platforms.
“Clients within Nairobi who want the surprise video posted on my social media pages need to pay an additional Sh5,000,” he said.
For clients outside Nairobi, the costs escalate, ranging from approximately Sh80,000 to Sh90,000.
International clients, however, are expected to allocate a more substantial budget, with fees ranging from $3,500 (Ksh 499,625) to $5,000 (Ksh 713,750).
Moya David emerged as one of the celebrities who rose to fame during the Covid-19 pandemic.
