Tony Gachoka released on bail

May 21st, 2015 1 min read

Tony Gachoka was on Wednesday released on a Sh 50,000 bond, hours after presenting himself in court following a warrant of arrest issued against him.

The political activist was being sought by authorities since May 14, for failing to honour court summons.

Gachoka has been sued alongside renowned journalist Jeff Koinange by businessman Jim Wanjigi for linking his company to the Anglo Leasing scandal despite a court injunction.

Koinange was arrested and charged on Wednesday morning, and released on a Sh 100,000 cash bail and has since resumed hosting his popular TV show Jeff Koinange Live on KTN with the case hearing set for May 25.

LOW PROFILE

In the meantime, Gachoka has opted to keep a low profile on social media in a departure from his highly-opinionated character.

His last tweet was on May 15, in a message perhaps related to his current woes.

“CORRUPTION WAR every man is a creature of the age in which he lives & few are able to raise themselves above ideas of the time,” Gachoka wrote.

Since then, the activist’s 16,000 followers on Twitter have been starved of any information, save for a couple of retweets, most of which are loaded with corruption related aspects.
