Here are the top sporting action to catch this weekend

Kenyan football fans have so much to look forward to this weekend, including the La Liga fixture featuring Atletico Madrid versus Michael Olunga’s  Girona. Here are the other sporting actions to catch this weekend:

1. Gor Mahia vs KCCA – Afraha Stadium (Saturday, 3pm)

Afraha Stadium in Nakuru is the place to be for the ardent local football fans, as Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia take on Ugandan champions Kampala City Capital Authority (KCCA) in a potentially exciting friendly match.

The two clubs are using this match to prepare for their upcoming continental assignments. K’Ogalo will play Equatorial Guinea side Leones Vegetarinios in the Africa Champions League while KCCA have been drawn against Malagasy side CNaPs.

Watch out for KCCA youngsters Mohammed Shaban and Alan Okello and Gor Mahia new signings Humphrey Mieno and Charles Momanyi.

2. Burnley vs Manchester United (Saturday, 6pm)

Their mid-season transfer target, Alexis Sanchez, may not have sealed the deal yet, but his impending arrival at Old Trafford has created a buzz among the Red Devils’ fans this week.

Late on Friday, Man United manager Jose Mourinho was quoted by the British media confirming that the club is close to completing a deal for Sanchez, although the Chilean striker continued to train with Arsenal.

First things first though.

Having reduced the deficit between themselves and runner away leaders Manchester City to 12 points earlier in the week, Man United would do with another win here. But will they?

3. Arsenal vs Crystal Palace (Saturday, 6pm)

Similarly, Armenian striker Henrikh Mkhitaryan trained with his Man United team mates on Friday evening but he is set to seal his move to Arsenal with the two clubs said to be still thrashing out a deal.

The Armenian play-maker has been mentioned as part of a swap deal involving the transfer of Sanchez to Old Trafford.

In the meantime, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger needs all three points for the Gunners to bounce back from the 2-1 loss the last time out at Bournemouth.

Arsenal also badly need their first victory of 2018.

4. Atletico Madrid vs Girona (Saturday, 6:15pm)

This is the one that most Kenyan fans will be closely following, for one obvious reason. Michael Olunga.

This after the Kenyan international striker came off the bench last weekend to bang in three quickfire goals as Girona flattened Las Palmas 6-0.

Atletico Madrid, who are second on the table, will however present a more formidable opponent for Olunga and company.

Olunga, if given a role in the game, will have to be at his very best to stand a chance of finding the back of the net against Diego Simeone’s charges.

Regardless, his fans here in Kenya have every reason to look forward to another great game from him.
