Two accused of burglary and theft at casino owned by son of ex-DCI boss

Two businessmen have been charged with breaking into and stealing from a casino owned by the son of former DCI director George Kinoti.

Luis Borura Nyawira Otieno and Stephen Wafula Okoni were arraigned before Milimani Chief Magistrate Robinson Ondieki on charges of unlawfully entering and stealing gaming equipment worth Sh1,260,000 belonging to Anthony Mwendwa Kinoti.

Otieno and Okoni were however remanded in police custody for the DPP to file evidence against their release on bail.

Mr Kinoti, through his lawyer Danstan Omari, also sought time to file an affidavit opposing the release of the accused on bail.

The two accused are charged with breaking and entering at Hison Plaza when they stole various gaming equipment from Mr Kinoti’s Quebec gaming lounge.

The DPP listed the stolen items as 11 play stations and 31 play pads and 35 game discs.

The accused denied the charges and applied for bond, which was vehemently opposed by Omari and the prosecution.

In a brief ruling, Mr Ondieki ordered that the accused be remanded in custody until tomorrow, Friday April 20, when the prosecution will present evidence in support of the denied bond.
