Viral video exposes sale of painted avocados in Murang’a


A viral video depicting a woman who fell victim to a scam involving painted avocados in Murang’a has been making waves in the headlines over the past few days.

The video has caused an uproar as it sheds light on a deceptive practice that has left unsuspecting customers with rotten fruits.

In the video, the unidentified woman recounts her experience of purchasing avocados during her journey from Murang’a.

Initially, the avocados appeared ripe and displayed a vibrant purple color, leading her to believe they were of high quality.

However, her hopes were shattered when the avocados failed to ripen and instead got spoilt.

The video captures the woman expressing her disbelief and frustration over the fraudulent act.

“Look at my people, see what they have done. It has been painted, and you can’t even understand what it is… I don’t know where we are heading as Kenyans. Beware of greed; my avocados won’t ripen; they are rotting,” she says.

The woman raises concerns about the potential risks associated with consuming artificially colored fruits, highlighting the need for caution in a society driven by monetary gain.

She questions the substances used in the painting process and the potential health hazards they may pose, urging viewers to be vigilant and avoid falling victim to such scams.

The video swiftly gained momentum on various social media platforms, triggering a flurry of responses from netizens.

“This person was just trying to outsmart others on the streets. It’s not easy,” _teddy_genius commented.

One of the alleged traders involved in the deceptive act has since been identified.
