Wakimani awaits court verdict over Ayeiya’s death
Former Churchill show comedian Paul Ogutu Wakimani says he is awaiting the court’s verdict in a case he says is accused of causing the death of fellow comedian Emmanuel Makori alias Ayeiya.
Wakimani claimed Ayeiya’s family sued him right after the burial of Ayeiya, who died in a tragic road accident along Magadi Road, Nairobi, in 2017.
“The case commenced, all the hearings went well, I attended all the court sermons, and I think right now I can freely talk about it without being prejudiced. We are still waiting for the verdict to know if I was responsible (for his death),” Wakimani reveals.
On that fateful night of Friday, April 14, Wakimani was driving the car in which the deceased was as they returned home from a Churchill Show recording at the Carnivore Simba Saloon.
The Toyota Premio they were travelling in would then veer off the road, crashing into a concrete post, killing Ayieya on the spot while Wakimani and the other two occupants escaped with minor injuries and were rushed to Kenyatta Hospital.

Following the incident, Wakimani fell off the showbiz radar and was recently revealed to have gone into depression.
For four years, he remained depressed to the point he turned to alcoholism to seek solace.
He, however, insists that even with the long break, his comedy career hasn’t taken a dent yet as he prepares to stage his one-man Stand-up special next month at the Nairobi Museum.
“I took a pause on stand-up comedy, and it’s been four years now. The whole idea of the four-year break from comedy was for me to re-strategize before making a comeback, which should be on the 14th of February when I will stage my show dubbed This is Wakimani, Broken Crayons Still Colour,” he affirms.
