WATCH: Sonko calms angry mob who stormed Andrew Kibe’s TikTok Live show
Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko came to the rescue of controversial blogger Andrew Kibe from a charging mob in one of the clubs in Nairobi along Ngong Road.
This came after the angry youths stormed the club along where Kbe was doing a live TikTok session with the former governor on April 29.
The youths, who are suspected to be from Kibra stormed the club as they demanded that Kibe should be ejected from the joint.
The rowdy youth who said they knew about the interview from Kibe’s social media accounts were forced to retreat after Sonko persuaded them to withdraw from the scene.
The incident which interrupted the interview almost turned ugly when some youths openly said that they were acting wild following the controversial remarks from Kibe on trending issues.
During the interview, Sonko, who is known for his flashy lifestyle said that he is currently jobless and has taken a low profile.
In a video, the former governor is seen persuading the youths to back off, escorting them out of the club.
As the incident unfolds, Kibe is seen sitting calmly, observing the situation while the rowdy crowd is kept at bay by Sonko’s security.
It is not clear how Sonko and Kibe agreed to meet for an interview after having a bad relationship since last year.
Last year, Sonko and Kibe engaged in a social media feud after the former governor urged Kibe to refrain from mentioning his name on his YouTube show and invading his private life.
Also, Sonko expressed frustration over Kibe’s alleged attacks on Kenyan celebrities, particularly women.
“I have heard you. I’m not stupid. Keep off my private life. I am a brand to myself. I don’t need to show it off. Stop attacking women,” Sonko said last year.
Kibe, who is known for meaning his words, responded by sharing a video where he openly criticized Sonko, calling him a loser and advising him to humble himself.
However, a few months later, the two appeared to have put their differences aside as they met for an interview, sharing drinks and making jokes.
In the live interview, Sonko spoke about being edged out of his position in the running of the Nairobi County.
