Who are these women? Kenyans list their preferred cast for ‘The Real Housewives of Nairobi’
With the much-awaited The Real Housewives of Nairobi series all set to premiere on February 23, 2023, a section of Kenyans online have weighed on the choice of the reality show’s cast members.
This after Showmax unveiled the five-women cast, that comprises socialite Vera Sidika, actress Minnie Kariuku, entrepreneur Susan Kaittany, luxury influencer Sonal Mherali and interior designer-cum-rally driver Lisa Christoffersen.
“Each of the ladies has a strong personality and sure identity of themselves. They are hardworking, affluent, influential and unapologetic women who are not ashamed to live large and live well because they have earned it. They’re also a representation of the diverse communities we have in Kenya,” said Denise Mwende, Showmax Content Specialist for East Africa.
And while many fans of the global franchise reality show welcomed The Real Housewives of Nairobi, there are those who questioned the choice of the cast.

Others dropped the names of “more famous” Kenyan women who, in their view, should have made the cast, saying while Vera Sidika fits the bill the others are anonymous entities.
“Good morning, I know it’s a bit too early for entertainment news but you will have to bear with me I must be the first one to share. The Real Housewives of Nairobi is set to premier soon and here are the cast members. Oh my Gosh though, who are these people?😳” asked Kwamboka Mokeira.
“Where is Amber Ray,” asked Suzzieh Kuria.
Amber Ray is one of the most renowned luxury influencers in Kenya with a side of scandal attached to her name.

Others went on to name actress Jackie Matubia, Diana Bahati, gospel musician Size 8 Reborn, Milly Chebby, Kate Actress and actress Wanjiku Stephens and among others.
“Nangoja waseme (I’m waiting for them to say) psssyyychh! Here’s the real cast. Following for Madam Boss (Kenyan singer Akothee),” said Koki Lox.
Of all the preferred names, socialite/influencer Amber Ray topped the list of the most mentioned name in various social media circles.
The series is produced by Eugene Mbugua’s D&R Studios (formerly Young Rich Television). It’s based on the Real Housewives franchise NBCUniversal Formats, which is part of Universal International Studios.
The Nairobi version joins other African adaptations such as Real Housewives of Johannesburg, Real Housewives of Pretoria, Real Housewives of Durban and Real Housewives of Lagos.
