Why Kenyan men continue to be indifferent to rising femicide cases

The rising rate of femicide in Kenya is having everyone on edge with many opinions and personalized notions being thrown around in state keyboard wars.

Femicide refers to the intentional killing of women or girls because they are female. It is a gender-based crime involving the murder of individuals based on their gender, often fueled by cultural, social, or gender inequalities. Femicide can occur within various contexts, including domestic violence, honor killings, and other forms of gender-based violence.

The objective opinion on the matter is that men are responsible for the alarming cases, but the generalization of gender seems to be rubbing good men the wrong way.

In a steaming conversation on reddit, Kenyan men have come out to share their opinions on the trending topic with many of the take that women are being biased in judging the situation which is leaving many men to portray an indifferent demeanor.

According to most men, being indifferent on the subject of female genocide is the only way to retain some dignity because not all men are the same, yet many women claim that it’s a gender war.

One man identified as One_Appearance001 on the platform wrote, “We probably have the same assumption, that there are two things at play in these Airbnb women murder incidences, sex and money. The main takeaway from this is, let’s all exercise caution. All these keyboard wars are pointless. Some of y’all are throwing around poorly founded notions, misunderstood terms, and unnecessary hate. If you want to protest, protest the crime itself and on behalf of the victims as a whole not just a one-sided activity as a plight for women and push for better security measures to filter out criminals.”

This sentiment caused quite a stir on the internet, forcing many other men to share their views. Below are some of the comments.
