Why Nairobi MCAs want Kidero’s top man sacked

Nairobi County Assembly has recommended the immediate sacking of the acting County Secretary Robert Ayisi following a dispute of office space between the assembly and the executive.

In a motion passed on Tuesday, the members said their effort to occupy the North Wing of County Hall by the assembly have been frustrated by Dr Ayisi.

Minority leader Abdi Guyo who sponsored the motion said that a gazette notice dated September 11, 2015 stated that the assembly precincts included the whole North Wing from basement to 5th floor but the executive has refused to move out of 4th and 5th floor and the basement.

The row escalated after the county secretary took the assembly to court, despite a meeting to resolve the issue.

IN OFFICE ILLEGALLY

“Despite mutual agreement and giving sufficient notice for vacation of premises reserved for the assembly, the county secretary went to court behind the county assembly to obtain orders to continue renovating 4th floor of the North Wing,” charged Mr Guyo.

In the approved motion, the MCAs threatened not to consider any business from the executive unless Dr Ayisi is sacked.

The MCAs also accused of Dr Ayisi of being in office illegally in the grounds that he has been acting in that position since January.

Mr Guyo said Dr Ayisi has acted for too long and has been belittling the assembly wing of the county government since his appointment.
