Why Tanzanian gospel singer Christina Shusho deleted mama Ruto’s X message
Tanzanian gospel singer Christina Shusho was forced to delete a post on X where she tagged and publicly invited Kenyan First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto to her concert.
This followed a backlash to the message from her followers.
Shusho, a popular singer in Kenyan circles known for hits such as mtetezi wangu, had publicly called on the First Lady to grace the concert in Nairobi on December 31, 2023.
“Namkaribisha sasa @MamaRachelRuto,” she wrote.
But alas!
Her followers, some of whom are Kenyans, expressed strong opinions on the move, forcing her to, perhaps, reconsider the invite.
The decision had the songstress trending on X on November 29, 2023, a day later.
Earlier, the Ushirika na Wewe hitmaker went all out to publicise the event on social media.
She explained that her upcoming visit to Nairobi was due to ‘popular demand’.
She further thanked her team in Nairobi, led by popular comedian and radio presenter Daniel Ndambuki alias Mwalimu Churchill for putting together the concert.
“Due to increasing demands for a concert in Kenya, my team and I are working with Mwalimu Churchill to have a concert on December 31, 2023.. ( Kingereza Kimeisha),” the songstress said.
Born 45 years ago and brought up in a religious family in the Tanzanian town of Kigoma, Christina Shusho has ruled the Kenyan airwaves for some time.
She exchanged vows with her husband in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s economic capital.
The couple is blessed with three children even though she appears keen to put her private life away from the media.
She is also known for her hits such as Shusha Nyavu, Unikumbuke, Teta Nao, Agano, Nipe Macho na Hapo Mwanzo.
Mama Rachel Ruto, on the other hand, is renowned for her humble poise and consistent prayer in public.
Among other events, the First Lady has been spotted publicly praying at a famous accident scene along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway, and for politician Macdonald Mariga at a time he was attempting to contest for the Kibra parliamentary seat.
Recently, US-based televangelist Benny Hinn revealed the First Lady flew to the US and personally requested him to attend a government-sponsored crusade in Nairobi.
During one of his preachings, Pastor Benny Hinn said it was a great surprise coming from a First Lady.
“Something amazing happened. The First Lady of Kenya flew from Nairobi with her team, just for one reason; to ask me to come back to Nairobi for a nationwide government-sponsored crusade,” Hinn said.
Besides, the First Lady has been spotted hosting several religious leaders and Christian music groups at State House
