Woman charged with drugging friend, stealing Sh1 million
A woman has been charged with administering a stupefying drug to a businessman’s food and robbing him of Sh1 million after a night of partying.
Virginia Wangui Thiga denied that on May 29, 2021, at Rystas Guest House in Umoja Estate, Nairobi, jointly with another not before the court with intent to commit a felony, namely stealing, administered Salicytes poison (APYCY), a stupefying drug, to Bernard Cheruiyot Chirchir.
The accused also denied that on diverse dates between May 29 2021 to May 31 2021 at Rystas Guest House in Umoja estate within Nairobi, she stole a Huawei Y9 mobile phone valued at Ksh 30,000, one equity Bank ATM card, a National ID card, and cash valued at Ksh1.12m, property of Mr. Chirchir.
She pleaded not guilty to both charges before chief magistrate Susan Shitubi.
State prosecutor Alice Mathangani pleaded with the court to detain the suspect until Friday to enable investigators to firm up their case.
The court ordered she be detained until Wednesday when she will apply to be released on bond.
Ms Shitubi also directed the investigating officer to file an affidavit detailing why she should be detained for three more days.
