Ze Maria takes up new job in Europe 24 hours after dumping Gor Mahia
Gor Mahia coach Jose Marcelo Ferreira dumped the Kenyan Premier League side for a lucrative offer in Europe, Nairobi News can now reveal.
The Brazilian coach, who is better known as Ze Maria, was on Saturday unveiled at Albanian club KF Tirana in the same capacity, barely 24 hours after walking out at K’Ogalo.
While there, his main targets is to steer the famous club back into the top flight, and also oversee a decent run in the Europa League.
Ze Maria has been unveiled in Albania alongside Marco Aurelio and Rafael Costa who worked under him during his season-long stint in Kenyan football.
GREAT TEAM
At his unveiling, Ze Maria described Kenyan club Gor Mahia as a “great” team.
“I’m honoured to be here. I thank President Halili for the opportunity. It’s a club with a Brazilian history. I’ve been part of big clubs in my career like Flamengo (in Brazil) and lately I’ve run a great team in Kenya.”
“The primary objective of the club is to return to the top flight and another objective is to pass the first round of the Europa League,” explained Ze Maria at his unveiling.
The Brazilian has, meanwhile, been replaced at Gor Mahia by former Kenya international Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno.
