10 Counties including Nairobi to experience power blackout

A total of ten counties will today, Wednesday, January 7, 2024, experience a power blackout the Kenya Power Company has said.

In a statement, the electricity provider listed the specific areas that will be affected.

Nairobi County was top of the list with Huruma Estate and Mbagathi Road being listed as those that will be affected.

The specific areas within Huruma Estate that will be affected include; parts of Juja Road, Moi Forces Academy, Huruma Flats, Niss Petrol Station, Parts of Mathare North Road, Metameta Road, Mundika Hospital, Mbuthia, Huruma Ngei 2, Casanova and adjacent customers.

In Mbagathi, the areas that will be affected by the power interruptions include; Sunshine Secondary School, AMREF, Nairobi West Prisons, Telkom, Wilson Airport, Riara University, Canan Estate, Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), parts of Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), KNH Staff quarters and Kenyatta Market.

Other areas within Mbagathi Road include; Magiwa Estate, Highview Estate, Mbagathi Hospital, Defense Forces Hospital, Umash Funeral Home, KEMRI, Shadrack Kimalel Primary School, Nyayo Highrise Estate, Parts of Ngumo, Parts of Lang’ata Road and adjacent customers.

Komarock Estate also located within Nairobi County will also be affected by the power interruptions. The specific areas that will be affected include; Komarock Phase 1, Komarock Estate, Kayole Spring Valley, Kayole Junction, Kayole Total Petrol Station and adjacent customers.

Machakos County was also listed as second with the specific areas that will lack electricity listed as; Parts of Mombasa Road. Saj Ceramics Company, Oriental Godowns and adjacent customers will be affected.

Third on the list is Kajiado County, Pipeline road will also be affected by the power interruptions that will last for nine hours.

Specific areas that will be affected include; Naresho Kenchic, Pipeline Road, Techno Steel, Ashanti, Kongoni, Inkito, Jamii Bora, Kajiado, Musa Primary School, PJ Dave, Fred’s Ranch, Kimalat, KAG, Lucky Base, Sucos, Imara Steel, Isinya Rural, Isinya Feeds, Isinya Town, Ramoda and adjacent customers.

Nakuru County will also be affected by the specific areas listed as; Parts of Kampi ya Moto, Phyllis Wambui Memorial, Rafiki Center, Kabarak Moi Primary School, East Gate Kabarak and adjacent customers.

Siaya County was also listed with the specific areas being; Boro Market, Hawinga, Sidundo, Ijasi, Nyalaji, Nyachiya, Mbaga Girls, Nyakado, Rasugu, Kochieng and adjacent customers.

In Vihiga County, the areas that will be affected include; Cheptulu Market, Musasa Market, Shaviringa, Mahudu, Musunji, Shiru Health Center, Sigongo, Kaptech, Siekuti, Kamulembe, Makuchi and adjacent customers.

In Kisumu County, Chiga Market, Wildor School, Kalusi Center, Aloo Gumbi School, Nyamoge School, Rweya, Kasese Center, Obumba School, Masawa Village and adjacent customers.

In Nyeri County, the areas that will be affected by the power interruptions include; Mweiga and Endarasha.

Specific areas include; Amboni, Kanyagia, Solio Lodge, Charity, Gitegi, Kula Mawe, Embaringo, Mwireri, Bondeni, Sangare, Kabati, Giraffe Ark, Kamatongu, The Ark Hotel, Kimenju Farm and adjacent customers.

Parts of Kirinyaga County and The North Eastern Region will also be affected by the scheduled power interruptions.
