Cracks in UDA as Kimilili MP Didimus Barasa chides Johnson Sakaja’s academic papers

Cracks are emerging within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party after Kimilili lawmaker Didmus Barasa publicly hit out at Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja.

Via his socials, the outspoken Baraza suggested Sakaja is trying to please Azimio leader Raila Odinga so as to safeguard himself against possible impeachment.

Baraza also cheekily referred to Sakaja’s controversial academic record in the tweets.

“I salute (governor) Kawira Mwangaza, she is leading Meru County with no (Member of the County Assembly) MCA affiliated to her since she ran on an Independent ticket. She stood firm amid political turbulence. My friend Sakaja Johnson was elected on a Kenya Kwanza ticket with 55 MCAs Vs 67 for Azimio,” he tweeted.

“With Jubilee now leaning to Kenya Kwanza, Automatically numbers tilt to his favor. But the rate under which Sakaja fears impeachment by trying to appease Raila Odinga even by adjusting his dress code and lovely dimples, if you were to give him Meru County Government to run, the dude will run away from the County to Uganda citing further studies”.

An impeachment process for a governor in Kenya is conducted by the Member of County Assembly (MCA) and Senators.

Sakaja recently suggested President William Ruto should meet and talk with Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

“The economy is bad enough and protests will further hurt Kenyans, there is nothing that can’t be sorted after talks… Let’s not plunge the country into a crisis,” he said.

Sakaja also indicated, but without mentioning names, that close allies of President William Ruto were against talks with Mr Odinga.

Other UDA members who have publicly stated their disapproval of political talks between President Ruto and Mr Odinga are Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Nakuru governor Susan Kihika.

The DPP publicly warned the Head of State that talking to Mr Odinga could destabilize his government while Ms Kihika says election losers (in this case Mr Odinga) should be content with a slot in the opposition.
