The late Eric Maigo, who was brutally stabbed to death by an unknown assailant last week at his home in Nairobi, is being honoured today by his colleagues and friends at the Nairobi Hospital.

According to a memo to all staff members, the hospital’s CEO James Nyamongo said the requiem service at the hospital’s Amphitheater Convention Centre will be held for one hour, starting at 1pm.

“All HODs are requested to organize the shifts accordingly to allow staff to attend the mass without any disruption of services to our clients,” Mr Nyamongo said.

The hospital will also share a live streaming link to allow those who will be unable to attend to follow the service virtually.

Maigo was killed in the early hours of September 15, 2023, at his home in Woodley, Nairobi. His lifeless body was found in a pool of blood next to his bed. Two bloodstained knives, believed to be the murder weapons, were recovered from the scene.

According to the post-mortem results, Dr Maigo was stabbed 25 times in the chest, neck and face. At the time of his death, Dr Maigo had just been appointed the hospital’s Acting Finance Director.

Dr Maigo’s killer is still on the run, but detectives have released images of a woman believed to be involved in the murder, with an appeal to members of the public to help them apprehend the suspect.

The detectives said that the suspect was captured by the CCTV camera while leaving the victim’s residence after allegedly committing the murder.

It is suspected that the woman escaped through the back door after the neighbours raised an alarm when they heard Dr Maigo groaning while the doors remained locked from the inside.

Dr Maigo has been eulogized by the Nairobi Hospital CEO as a hardworking person who loved his job.
