Akothee’s sister Cebbie appreciates ‘prayers’ amid family beef

By Winnie Mabel October 17th, 2022 2 min read

Elseba Awuor Kokeyo alias Cebbie Koks, the younger sister to Kenyan singer Esther Akoth aka Akothee, has called on Kenyans to pray for her and her family.

Cebbie suggested via her Instagram stories on October 16, 2022, the beef with her celebrity sister, is taking its toll on family relations.

“Good Morning, lemmy (let me) put this here, I’m unable to reply to all the messages. I appreciate your efforts in reaching out to me. I also acknowledge with lots of grace and humility that you genuinely pray for me and my family. I thank everyone who takes the time to pray for my union. Marriage is sacred and fragile. I don’t take it for granted. Ahsante sana (thank you very much),” said Cebbie.

Cebbie and city lawer Steve Ogolla are set to walk down the aisle in December 2022.

The two have been secretly dating despite an earlier marriage proposal in 2020 by another man.

Nairobi News previously reached out to Cebbie regarding her relationship with Mr Ogolla but she said she was not ready to talk about it.

Last week, Akothee took to social media to reveal that due to the frosty nature of the relationship between herself and her sister, she would not be attending her wedding.

“We are having another event in December which I am also happy about. I am so happy. From the bottom of my heart, I mean well. The only thing is I was not going to go to that wedding anyway because I and my younger sister have not been on good terms for close to a year now, maybe you do not know. I haven’t said she is evil but I packed my bags out of that relationship.” Akothee said.

Nairobi News previously reported that Akothee candidly spoke about the strained relationship with her sister and how their family always took Cebbie’s side, leaving her depressed.

“…fame broke us apart. I will not break or damage my sister publicly (because) I was not born a vengeful person, I can’t break my own project I actively believed in but I am human. My family failed to intervene several times and the wound in my heart grew bigger. The distance between me and my younger sister grew bigger. I battled depression for over 6 months, I didn’t know what was eating me, then while in hospital, I received information that my sister said I was pretending, this is what killed me completely.” Akothee partly spoke of her family drama.

As the beef continues brewing, Akothee and her Caucasian boyfriend are also planning to walk down the aisle. She has been consistently posting about her upcoming nuptials having already sought the services of a master of ceremony and currently scouting for a location to hold her upcoming wedding.
