Ally B family’s strange request as singer laid to rest in Mombasa

The late veteran singer, Ali Khamisi Mwaliguli, widely known as Ally B, was laid to rest in Mombasa on November 2, 2023, in a heartfelt and solemn ceremony.

Friends, family, politicians, celebrities, and devoted fans gathered to bid farewell to the beloved artist.

The late Ally B’s body was laid to rest at the Maziara ya Cobra cemetery in Mishomoroni, Mombasa County, by Islamic traditions.

During the burial service, Ally B’s brother addressed the gathering, making a humble request to radio stations and entertainers.

He implored them to refrain from playing Ally B’s songs following his passing.

“Tunaomba news anchors, radio presenters, ma-dj, tafadhali naomba, nyimbo za Ally msicheze. Tafadhali naomba,” Ally B’s brother said.

He urged those who wished to commemorate Ally B to offer their prayers instead.

“Msicheze miziki yake tena. Naomba iwe anayetaka akimkumbuka amtilie dua. Lakini msipige miziki yake, tafadhali. Twaomba,” he emphasized.

“(Do not play his music anymore. We request that those who wish to remember him offer prayers on his behalf. But please, do not play his music, we kindly request.”)

Speaking on behalf of the family, Ally B’s brother underscored the importance of respecting their wishes.

He expressed, “Nyimbo zake tosha. Muombeeni lakini msipige miziki yake. Mimi kama ndugu yake nimesema,” as he concluded his heartfelt plea.

By Islamic beliefs, music, particularly secular music, is considered haram (forbidden)

Fans have taken to social media to elaborate on the religious justification behind the request

minny.bea: “As a Muslim, when you play his music, the more punishment he will receive in his grave… May Allah have mercy on him.”

ayam_zuuh: “The more his music is played, the more he gets adhabu ya kabri. Music is haram in Islam. May Allah guide us and grant us all a good ending InshaAllah.”

_iam_trey: “According to Islam, when one dies, they are subjected to the punishment of the grave. Since music is haram, the more you play his music, the more the punishment becomes severe. May Allah SWT have mercy on his soul and grant his family comfort.”
