City Catholic priest shot dead while taking church offering to bank
A Catholic priest was on Monday shot dead by thugs in Kinoo, Kiambu, and Sunday’s church offering stolen.
Kiambu County Police Commander Andiel Nyange said a gang of four on two motorcycles blocked the priest on a rough road and demanded a bag that was in the car.
Mr Nyange said a gunman shot through the windscreen of the Toyota Harrier car and a bullet hit the priest in the chest.
The priest was rushed to Kikuyu Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The police boss said the priest was taking the money to a bank in Kikuyu town.
“All the money was stolen. We don’t know the amount but we are investigating,” he said.
