City man dies after car plunges from Diamond Plaza parking lot in Parklands
A motorist died after his salon car plunged from the second floor of a parking lot in Nairobi’s Parklands area.
Victor Orori Mochama, 33, had parked his Volkswagen Jetta on the second-floor parking lot at the Diamond Plaza Two and left for errands on January 9, 2023, at around 1 am.
Police said that when he was leaving, he lost control of the motor vehicle after he accidentally accelerated and drove through the rail guards.
The car nose-dived and crashed on the ground floor parking of the structure.
Police and witnesses said he died on the spot after sustaining serious injuries due to the impact.

Police visited the scene and removed the body to the mortuary, pending further investigation.
The badly damaged car was towed to the local police station.
In Mathare, a 24 -year-old man died after a fight with his friend over a mobile phone.
The deceased’s body was found in the Mathare Daraja Mbili area on Monday morning.
Police quoted the deceased’s family, identified as Duncan Wesonga, saying that he had fought with a known local who hit him in the head, leaving him unconscious.
Police said they are looking for the said assailant for questioning and prosecution.
The body was moved to the pending mortuary autopsy and further probe.

Meanwhile, police have launched investigations after a boy aged eight years drowned at a swimming pool as he swam with friends in Runda, Nairobi.
Master Ivan Apiyo was in the company of other children. He had visited a home for a tuition exchange programme when they decided to jump into a pool for afternoon escapades.
It was then that he was found motionless by other pupils, who alerted the homeowners.
They retrieved him from the pool and realised he had died.
A team of medical personnel was called to the scene and confirmed him dead.
Police said they were investigating the incident and added there was no attendant at the pool at the time of the incident on Monday, January 9 afternoon.
The parents of the deceased were later called to the scene and were heartbroken, witnesses said.
