Crazy Kennar mourns loss of son 4 days to ‘Happy Country’ show


Comedian Kennedy Odhiambo, widely known as Crazy Kennar has shared the devastating news of the loss of his newborn son with girlfriend Natalie Asewe just days before his highly anticipated ‘Happy Country’ show.

The emotional disclosure unfolded during Kennar’s performance at the Kenya International Conference Centre (KICC) last night, leaving the audience stunned.

Kennar, known for his humor and charisma, took a moment to speak openly about the profound grief he and his family are experiencing.

“I was to surprise you that I am a father but unfortunately, my son died four days ago. It has been a very tough journey for me because we had to go through all that and at the same time do the show,” he expressed, visibly shaken by the recent tragedy.

During the emotionally charged show, Kennar seized the opportunity to advocate for empathy and support among people.

“So my words as happy citizens are that whenever you see somebody walking while smiling, just go and ask him if he is okay or not. Let’s be our brother’s keepers, lets be our sister’s keepers and let’s love one another. Thank you so much.”

Videos circulating on social media captured Kennar’s poignant moments on stage, where he embraced fellow comedians, celebrating the success of the sold-out event despite the recent personal loss.

Kenyans have poured in condolence messages, commending the comedian for his resilience.

Abel Mutua, a fellow comedian, expressed his deepest condolences, saying:

“My deepest condolences to you and @_i.am.natalie for your loss. It’s a miracle that you were still able to pull off this masterpiece. You’re indeed The GOAT! Here are your flowers. And to everyone else who was part of the dream, Barikiweni sana.”

Crazy Kennar had revealed his ambitious plan to host a live comedy show in December, showcasing his journey in the world of comedy.

Despite recent challenges, he reflected on his growth, attributing it to the support of his fans.

“The first time I started content creation was around 2017. I never thought of how big I could grow. I never even in my wildest dreams imagined that I could leave the country to go and shoot content. All these have been possible because of the support you guys have given me.”

Expressing his aspirations for the future, he revealed, “I want to do a live show on stage. I want to actualize digital comedy into live stage comedy, a show that will have 6000 people in attendance this December.” Despite the recent tragedy, Kennar remains determined to deliver a performance of a lifetime.

Crazy Kennar’s popularity has soared over the past year, achieving international recognition, including a recent gig in South Africa, despite facing challenges with his former team and a brief sabbatical.
