Deal with Dandora rapists – now
In civilised societies children play happily throwing caution to the wind.
This is the innocence that makes them children and from whom it shouldn’t be taken away by man, god or beast.
But this is an ideal situation. A Shangri-La, which Dandora isn’t.
Here’s why: The footage touched every civilised Nairobian’s raw nerve.
Dandora tramps, high on hooch and bhang or whatever it is they use so that they transcend to bestiality, were bragging how they abduct little angels on their way to school, or to the corner shop and rape them for days in turns while demanding ransom from extremely gutted parents.
One had the nerve to brag, on camera, that they were not averse to slitting the girls’ throats when there was no compliance with their demands.
So much for the animals, which brings us to the role of our county government.
The words of the wise man who said that the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing about it should haunt City Hall as this vice goes unchecked.
Why is it that the county government has not acted or seemed to act in the wake of this crime?
We know the governor has nothing close to a police force under his command apart from an irredeemably corrupt city inspectorate.
However, it is not our duty to do his bidding. He is a well-connected man who hosts President Uhuru Kenyatta at his Muthaiga residence.
Such parleys, we believe, are not about tea and biscuits sun downers but avenues where serious business of state is discussed.
We are belabouring the point that, if some police chief is sleeping on the job, it will only take a phone call from the governor to a big name for the Dandora beasts to be dealt with.
