Detectives puzzled by the mysterious death of visiting boyfriend in Kasarani


Police in Kasarani, Nairobi County are investigating a case where a man who was in the bed with his lover, woke up heading to the toilet but ended up peeing on himself before falling dead.

In the incident which took place on Sunday night, Mr Joshua Mwanzia Mutuku had paid his girlfriend Jane Nyangige Wamuiwa a visit when the unfortunate incident happened.

In a police report seen by Nairobi News, Mr Mutuku had gone to the toilet which is within the house leaving his lover lying on a mattress placed on the floor.

However, she heard the man fall down with a thud and since she was tired all she did was ask him to join her on the mattress.

“She called him before asking that he drags himself to the mattress and take a nap which he did,” the police report read in part.

Mr Mutuku followed as he had been told and joined Ms Wamuiwa on the mattress.

According to the lady’s statement, as soon as he had reached and taken a position to sleep, he snored heavily before he went dead silent.

“I tried to call him but he was not in any way responding, this prompted me to make a report to the police,” Ms Wamuiwa told detectives attached to the Criminal Investigations (DCI) and based at Kasarani Police Station.

Immediately, she made the call to the station, DCI sleuths visited the scene and found the body of the deceased lying on the mattress while facing upwards.

The scene was recorded and the body was taken to the city mortuary located in Lang’ata Sub-County, Nairobi County.

Police say that the body did not have any visible injuries.

Detectives based at Kasarani police station privy to the ongoing investigations said that plans were underway to have a postmortem conducted today, Tuesday, September 6, 2022.

“Once the postmortem has been conducted we shall then know whether there was any wrongdoing or not. If something is a miss then the investigations will go on as the lady is tasked to give more information on what had transpired,” said the officer, who spoke in confidence as they are not authorised to speak to the media.

Meanwhile, police at the same station are investigating an incident in which a lady who went missing was found dead inside her house in Kasarani, Nairobi County.

Ms Phylis Kimuma, 27 had gone missing for two consecutive days and could not be reached on phone, prompting her colleagues to alert their boss.

The boss, Mr Clement Onenga reached out to police in Kasarani before they proceeded to her house but found it locked from the inside.

The door was broken only for the police to find Ms Kimuma lying dead inside the bathroom.
