EXCLUSIVE: Star-studded premier of “Zari” Telenovela lights up KICC (Photos)


All roads led to the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on October 23, 2023, for the highly anticipated private premiere of “Zari,” a Maisha Magic telenovela.

The show promises to deliver a modern Cinderella story, following the journey of Nina, a young woman whose true family and fortune remain hidden from her.

The intriguing narrative unfolds the gripping question: Will Nina ever be reunited with her biological father, Dylan?

Will her adopted family face the consequences of their long-held deception? “Zari” is set to capture the hearts of viewers as it airs every Monday to Friday at 20:30 EAT.

On the glamorous red carpet, the presence of renowned Citizen TV news anchors Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla stole the spotlight.

Lulu Hassan, speaking with Nairobi News, expressed her amazement at the impeccable adherence to the dress code among all the invited guests.

The code called for shades of purple and gold for women and black and gold for men.

“I am thrilled to see how everyone has graced this event in such stylish attire. This is precisely what we had hoped for.”

Lulu wowed onlookers in a shimmering orange gown, her makeup impeccably done, and she graciously posed for photos with fellow celebrities.

Rashid Abdalla was equally dashing in a purple tuxedo.

The power couple, Lulu and Rashid, have added another feather to their cap through their production company, Jiffy Pictures, by bringing “Zari” to the screens.

The telenovela features Sarah Hassan and Brenda Wairimu as the main cast, and both actresses graced the red carpet in striking purple ensembles.

The MC of the night was media personality, Jeff Koinange.

The premiere event played host to numerous notable figures in the Kenyan entertainment industry, with even politicians in attendance.

Nairobi Women Representative, Esther Passaris, expressed her excitement and praised the team for creating opportunities in the creative industry:

“I have been featured in one of your series, and I am so excited by your hard work in creating opportunities for the creative industry. It is about time we learn to celebrate our own.”

Lulu Hassan emphasized the importance of hard work and the opportunities provided by Multichoice, citing the positive impact it has on job creation:

“With this show alone, we have created jobs for over 150 people. Our hard work will give us the glory of our diversity. With love, unity, respect, and hard work, that should be our drive in everything we do.”

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba congratulated the couple and Multichoice for the incredible teamwork that brought the show to life.

Rashid Abdalla extended his gratitude to everyone involved in the project, particularly his wife, for their patience during the demanding production schedule:

“We did not have much time for each other so that we could see this become a success. I am happy she will be happy to see this coming up.”

The star-studded evening continued with appearances by media personalities such as Jackie Matubia from “Zora,” Trisha Khalid, Hassan Mugambi, and his wife, Mwanaidi Shishi, Monicah Kiragu.
