Expected Sunday blackout update – Kenya Power

Kenya Power, the nation’s primary electricity utility, has issued an important notice to inform Kenyan residents of a planned power blackout scheduled for Sunday, October 22, 2023. The blackout is a necessary part of network maintenance activities.

In a statement shared with the public on Saturday evening, Kenya Power detailed the areas that will be affected by the scheduled power interruptions.

The announcement read, “Good Evening. The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (22nd October 2023). The interruption is part of network maintenance. For advance notice, use http://bit.ly/31u4jY4. To access the latest schedule, check under the most recent date.”

The planned power interruptions are set to commence at 9 am and conclude at 3 pm on the specified date.

Numerous areas in Migori county will be affected by the temporary power outage. According to Kenya Power, the affected locations encompass Rongo and Kanga.

The specific areas slated to experience the power outage include Rongo University, Kitere Centre, Kanga High School, Rakwaro Centre, Rakwaro Mission, Rongo Show Ground, Kanyawanga, Kwoyo Kondaro, and Kanyawanga High School.

In addition to these areas, several other parts of Migori county will be impacted. The affected localities are Rongo town, Kokuro centre, Nyatambe centre, a portion of Awendo, Maridi Polytechnic, Ondome, Ondingo Aero, Siruti centre, Rongo police, Rongo hospital, Rongo KCB, Co-op bank, Weigh Bridge, and adjacent customers.

Kenya Power has urged residents in these affected areas to make the necessary preparations for the temporary power blackout, which will be in effect for the specified duration.

The utility company assures that the maintenance work is essential to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the power supply network, and it apologizes for any inconveniences caused by the planned interruptions.
