Fanfare at Kasarani volleyball event


A fun-filled mood has engulfed the Safaricom Indoor Arena at Kasarani, Nairobi, venue of this edition of the CAVB Africa Nations Championship.

Thousands of fans have taken full advantage of the no cost entrance, to throng the 5,000 seater facility on Thika Superhighway to cheer the national women’s team’s bid to retain the continental title.

The crowd has also been treated to sideshows and separate entertainment from upcoming artists.

The audience is also privileged to watch in flesh – the continent’s top volleyball stars including Janet Wanja and Jane Wacu (Kenya), Fatma Ouhnzi, (Algeria), Gueye Sokna (Cameroon) and Fatou Dock (Senegal).

The 10 day competition will climax on Saturday.

Hosts Kenya, Botswana, Morrocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Senegal, Cameroon and Mauritius are competing in this tournament whose winner will represent Africa at the FIVB World Cup in Japan in September.
