FKF Coast boss Mghendi Appreciates President Ruto over KPA appointment


Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has welcomed the appointment of former Bandari FC chairman Captain William Ruto as the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Managing Director.

The FKF National Executive Committee (NEC) Coast representative Gabriel Mghendi said the appointment will go a long way in promoting football in the region by transforming Bandari which is the only team from the area participating in the premier league by being celebrated as Kenya’s soccer powerhouse.

Mghendi thanked President William Ruto for having faith in sports administrators by giving them top managerial jobs in the government hence the appointment of Captain Ruto as the KPA boss.

“Captain Ruto has been tried and tested and succeeded as Bandari FC chairman. Based on that our assessment as FKF we give him a clean bill of health in delivering in his job as the KPA Managing Director.

Mghendi added:” He managed Bandari well and we have confidence that he will deliver in his new post and as well promote sports at the Coast owing to his goodwill and influential position.”

The Coast FKF supremo said that with one of their own now occupying a key position in the management of KPA he was sure that Bandari will sparkle and bring hiome the elusive Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF PL) title,

Mghendi said that with Ruto’s appointment as the KPA boss football in the coast, region will climb the ladder through Bandari as a role model to other upcoming clubs and the parastatal will also use its financial muscle to promote driving Coast’s region football agenda.

Mghendi said on behalf of the federation he will seek a meeting with Ruto in seeking ways of promoting Bandari and football at the coast to higher heights.

He called on President William Ruto to consider sports administrators in his government jobs appointments.

“We have many capable and potential sports administrators who can be considered for appointments and can be trusted in driving the Kenya Kwanza government agenda to the next level,” he said.

Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen on Friday via a gazette notice, appointed Captain Ruto, the manager in charge of Kisumu port, to the big position.
