Former presidential running mate Martha Karua is not bothered about the inauguration ceremony of President-elect William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua that is underway at the Kasarani stadium in Nairobi.

As delegates arrived at the Kasarani Stadium to witness Dr Ruto and his deputy Mr Gachagua taking the oath of office, Ms Karua was spending her morning at a Golf Course in an undisclosed location.

In a photo she shared on social media, Ms Karua was dressed in sports gear and is seen holding a golf club and smiling.

“My day so far,” the Narc Kenya leader captioned the photo.

Mr Odinga and Ms Karua lost to Dr Ruto in the hotly contested presidential poll conducted on August 9.

The duo’s petition challenging the election of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance leader was dismissed by the Supreme Court on September 5.

On Monday, Mr Odinga said he had received a personal invitation from Ruto requesting him to attend the event.

However, the ODM leader said he won’t be available to attend the event because he is out of the country.

While citing other reasons why he would skip the event, Mr Odinga said he doesn’t believe Dr Ruto was validly elected as Kenya’s fifth president.

“This evening, I received a letter and a telephone call from H.E Dr. William Ruto inviting me to his inauguration set for tomorrow, September 13, 2022. I regret however that I will not be available for the inauguration because I am out of the country and I also have other serious concerns,” Mr Odinga said.

“First, I believe that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, the body in charge of our elections, did not conduct a free and fair election.”

The former prime minister also stated that the recent decision by the Supreme Court to dismiss his petition, challenging Dr Ruto’s election, was ‘not based on the facts and the law’.

“For these reasons, the outcome of the election remains indeterminate. Once I return to the country, I will, jointly with Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party leaders, announce our next steps as we seek to deepen and strengthen our democracy,” Mr Odinga added.

Mr Odinga said that Azimio will give a way forward once he returns to the country.
