List of presidents who graced Ruto’s swearing-in ceremony
Today, Kenyans are glued to their television sets and some physically at the Kasarani Stadium to witness the swearing-in of the 5th president of Kenya.
Also joining them are African presidents, as well as dignitaries, who will witness the change of guard.
The 60,000 stadium capacity is packed to the brim with Kenyans streaming in as early as late in the night.
Outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday 13, September will officially hand over his powers to his former deputy Ruto before 2:00 pm.
Dr Ruto will receive a symbolic sword that he will hold as the sitting president.
The sword is made of stainless steel with a golden coating.
He will also be given a copy of Kenya’s constitution, a 21-gun salute, a flag hoisted on his official vehicle and an aide de camp who shall always accompany Ruto in all functions and official duties.
The historic event will witness Ruto sworn in as Kenya’s fifth president.
Chief Justice Martha Koome will administer the oath to both Dr Ruto and Mr Rigathi.
