Kayole woman who stabbed daughter for coming home late arrested
Police have arrested a Kayole woman stabbed her nine-year-old daughter a week ago because she returned home late from playing with her friends.
The woman stabbed her daughter twice, on the leg and back, and fled immediately after the incident.
She was arrested a week after going into hiding.
According to a neighbor who spoke to our sister station NTV, the woman had returned home on Monday to find her children under the care of neighbours.
Later in the evening, the neighbours heard the young girl screaming for help.
The building’s caretaker said she responded to the young girl’s distress calls, but the mother – who was flogging her – refused to open the door.
“I threatened to call for help if she failed to open the door and she kept telling me that she is going to beat the young girl to death,” said the caretaker.
By the time neighbours rescued the young girl, she had been stabbed twice but was in a stable condition.
She has been taken to a children’s home. Her mother is set to be arraigned in court.
