Kenyan reportedly crashed by his car in US laid to rest in Nandi


A Kenyan who on April 6, 2023, died while working on his car in Lenaxa, United States of America (USA) has been laid to rest.

Mr Jacob Kiprop Birech, 54, was on April 30, 2023, laid to rest at his home in Nandi County.

His brother Mr Kip Cheluget thanked friends and family for putting resources together to ensure his remains are brought back home for final rites to be performed.

“Thank you all for your great support, prayers and live as we bid our beloved brother farewell,” he posted on his official Facebook account.

Mr Birech’s body arrived on Thursday, April 27, 2023, from the USA.

The family raised Sh 1.1 million through a GoFundMe, an online fundraiser, which was started by friends who reside in the US.

“Jacob Birech was a kind and loving husband and father, with a very gentle spirit,” wrote Jennifer Wildung on GoFundMe.

Ms Jennifer further said that the deceased who was a Ph.D student in Public Policy and Administration was a peacemaker and leader.

The family narrated How Mr Birech met his death saying that his vehicle had a mechanical issue and he was working on it when he died.

They said that he had removed the wheels of his car and was under it making the repairs and he accidentally hit the jack which was supporting the motor vehicle.

It is then that the car crashed leading to the death of Mr Birech.
