Kimilili lawmaker Didmus Barasa asks Peter Salasya ‘to find a wife’
Kimilili lawmaker Didimus Barasa has advised men to consider getting married at a youthful age because ‘marriages help them to calm down’.
In what was construed as an apparent dig at Mumias East MP Peter Salasya, Barasa, a close ally of President William Ruto, insisted that ‘woman play a significant role in taming men who are full of anger and emotions’.
Salasya, a youthful lawmaker, has in recent times been involved in a number of controversial incidents
Mr Barasa has suggested the legislator, who has severally insisted is single, should get married to address his aggresive behaviour, which has led to physical fights in public.
“I think that the MP of Mumias East (Peter Salasya), who is fond of beating teachers, should come to Kimilili, and we will teach him… Teachers should not be beaten; instead, you should sit them down and deliberate on the way forward.
“Salasya is my friend, and I interact with him in parliament often. He tells me that I am his role model. I have identified a problem that we all need to agree on and assist him,” stated the MP.
He further went on, “You know, when you are a man, old enough, working on a salary, and you do not have a wife, the kind of life you live is very miserable. We must put our heads together… Women play a crucial role in stabilizing our emotions and tempers, and my friend Salasya should now get married.”
MP Salasya, since assuming office in 2022, has been involved in several incidents engaging in physical fights with almost everyone who differs from him.
The recent incident involved beating a Member of the County Assembly (MCA) at a funeral ceremony in Kakamega County, which has landed him on the wrong side of the law.
He has been arraigned on assault charges.
