Mandago to address Devolution Conference despite arrest notice

In an unexpected turn of events, embattled Senator Jackson Mandago is set to address the devolution conference at 11 am, despite the looming arrest notice.

The National Police Service has put out a statement stating, “The National Police Service is in the process of executing a Warrant of Arrest against Uasin Gishu Senator Hon. Jackson Mandago, who has gone underground since yesterday [August15], and calls upon the Senator to present himself at the nearest police station.”

Mr. Mandago is among the listed speakers for the event, holding the position of host senator.

Having entered his first term, the senator has garnered public attention due to the Uasin Gishu overseas program.

During his tenure as governor, Mandago introduced an overseas program aimed at sending students to Finnish universities.

However, this initiative has faced public scrutiny, as parents and students raised concerns about its implementation.

“Our community members contributed to the funds for travel, but we haven’t been able to enroll in the programs, leading to a sense of depression,” shared Benjamin Cheboson, a student, during an interview.

In a bid to address the unfolding situation, Senator Mandago took to his social media platforms earlier in the morning to dismiss rumors about his arrest by DCI officers.

The devolution conference commenced on Tuesday, August 15, and will run until Saturday, bringing delegates from various counties and national government officials together.

President William Ruto will officiate the conference’s official opening at Eldoret sports grounds.
