Moses Kuria: Why I moved my office to Two Rivers Mall
Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has defended the move to shift his office from the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) building to to the Two Rivers Mall.
In an interview with Citizen TV, Kuria suggested there was no wastage of taxpayers’ funds in the move as the Sh25 billion mall was partially owned by the government.
“First, the registered office of my ministry is the NSSF Building, 17th floor. The Two Rivers Mall office which people are talking about is owned largely by the Ministry of Investments and Industry, so it’s like accusing you of being in your own house,” he clarified.
The former Gatundu South lawmaker added that the NSSF building office did not make the cut as a world-class facility that offered investors the environment needed to leave them with an ideal impression of the country.
Kuria who’s emerged as one of the most powerful Cabinet Secretaries in President William Ruto’s office adds that his office at Two Rivers Mall offers investors the kind of ambiance they required.
“I visit many countries and I know the environment which the investors enjoy in those particular countries. I benchmark with many countries and will give investors an environment that ranks equivalent to what the other countries do.”
Kuria further noted that his recent appointment as special envoy by President William Ruto has facilitated him in advancing Kenya’s trade agenda to other countries clarifying that it is the Head of State who sends him to the various countries.
“In all these tours I was not sending myself, I was appointed as a special envoy by President William Ruto to talk to our neighbours and try to reestablish our leadership in terms of the region, to try to push through a couple of agreements that we feel as of strategic value and importance to the country.”
Kuria has met with 11 Heads of State in the past two months including Yoweri Museveni (Uganda), Salva Kiir (South Sudan)
and Suluhu Hassan (Tanzania).
