Kenya Railways Corporation has announced a temporary closure of the Nairobi Railways bus terminus on Sunday.

In a notice on Friday, the company said the terminus will be temporarily closed on September 24 from 6am to 6pm for a comprehensive Ground Penetration Radar Utility Survey at the Railways Matatu Terminus and Easy Coach Park.

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is a geophysical method that uses radar pulses to image the subsurface. It is a non-intrusive method of surveying the sub-surface to investigate underground utilities such as concrete, asphalt, metals, pipes, cables or masonry.

This non-destructive method uses electromagnetic radiation in the microwave band (UHF/VHF frequencies) of the radio spectrum, and detects the reflected signals from subsurface structures.

According to Kenya Railways, they will be working with Nairobi City County, which intends to carry out the survey.

Matatus from Langata Road and Mombasa Road will pick and drop off passengers at Agip Bus Bay, in front of Posta City Square and the street between Neno Evangelism Church and Shell-Petrol Station, off Haile Selassie Avenue.
