Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna blasts DP Gachagua in matatu stance
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has defended Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja from the endless attacks directed at him by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Through a statement, Senator Sifuna urged Sakaja to ignore Gachagua’s attacks and instead concentrate on delivering services to the electorate.
This comes a day after the DP criticized the governor in an interview for his move to decongest Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) by moving a section of matatus to the Green Park Terminus.
“Nairobians have stated unequivocally that they want the city to change. The Nairobi City Government cannot and shall not be beholden to tribal blackmail, loose tongues, or latter-day pseudo-Mau Mau and their fake “bravery”. We must change how the city is run and individuals or tribe cannot hold all of Nairobi hostage,” said Sifuna.
He alleged the DP could be having a hangover from his days as a powerful District Officer (DO) under the former constitution.
“It’s a good time to tell him those days are long gone. Let him keep off the runnings of county governments and concentrate on delivering the many promises he and the President made to Kenyans, strictly in line with the powers he has under the Constitution.
Gachagua and Sakaja have been at loggerheads over how the management of businesses in the CBD.
