Nakuru whip Blak Blad, Mwamba rock Monks

Kenya Cup defending champions Nakuru RFC made it four wins in four matches by defeating Kenyatta University’s Black Blad 44-0 at the Kenyatta University Grounds on Saturday.

George Adongi and David Kuvuti scored two tries each, while Kelvin Omiyo, Charles Odhiambo and Edwin Okemwa weighed in with a try apiece to compete the score.

The win helped the dominant Nakuru to provisionally move to the top of the table with 15 points ahead Strathmore Leos’ match against Impala.

Nakuru’s coach Dominique Habimana handed Martin Muita a starting role, with utility back Leslie Ochieng starting at fly half while Kenyan international Mike Okombe partnered with Charles Odhiambo and Edwins Makori at the back.

In an earlier match at the same venue, Mwamba RFC handed Catholic University Monks a 78-3 thrashing for their third win of the season to move to 14 points from four matches.

In Mombasa, bottom placed Mombasa Sports Club suffered a 38-11 loss to debutants Kabras Sugar, while Western Bulls returned to winning ways with a 15-5 victory over Kenya Harlequin in Kakamega.

In the other matches, Nairobi University’s Mean Machine’s losing streak extended to four matches after they were beaten 59-7 by third placed KCB at the Impala Club. On Friday night Nondies beat Kakamega Homeboys 30-8.
