Netflix show potrayed my parents all wrong, Isabella Idibia

Isabella Idibia, the eldest daughter of renowned Nigerian musician Innocent ‘2face’ Idibia and actress Annie Idibia, has expressed her discontent with the portrayal of her parents on the South African reality show “Young, Famous and African.”

In a live social media session, Isabella criticized the show’s producers for their inaccurate depiction of her parents’ relationship.

The show portrays Annie as a nagging wife enduring an abusive marriage, while 2Baba (2face) is depicted making remarks about infidelity in the presence of his wife.

She emphasised her firsthand knowledge of her family’s relationships, dismissing online speculation as uninformed.

“I think the way my parents were portrayed in ‘Young, Famous and African‘ is just so wrong,” Isabella said.

“People on social media will always think what they want to think, but they will never know the actual true story of anything in my family or anything that happened before I was even born.”

Isabella emphasised that she has a deeper understanding of her parents’ lives compared to most people, as they share a household.

“I know it because I’ve been in the household with my parents. I can’t change everyone’s perspective on social media because people on social media would always think what people on social media want to think. But honestly, they would never know the actual true story of anything in my family or anything that happened before I was even born. The way my parents were portrayed in ‘Young, Famous and African’ wasn’t the best image and wasn’t completely accurate.”

Isabella further explained that watching her parents on the show felt different from viewing them as her parents.

“When I watch it, I don’t think about them as my parents but as people, I’m watching on a TV show,” she said. “I want to critique my mum if there’s anything wrong she did on the show. I don’t want to look at her as my mum but as a cast member.”

“Young, Famous and African” is a reality series that chronicles the lives of a group of renowned and affluent personalities as they navigate work, leisure, romantic entanglements, and conflicts in the vibrant city of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Others celebrities in the show include Diamond Platnumz, Zari Hassan, Khanyi Mbau, Andile Ncube, Swanky Jerry, Naked DJ, Nadia Nakai, Kayleigh Schwark and 2Baba.
