Pay channel GOtv to offer more to subscribers

Subscribers of pay channel GOtv Kenya will soon enjoy an increased range of content at affordable prices. This was revealed during the 5th anniversary of the company last week.

GOtv, which was launched 5 years ago to offer Kenyans an affordable move from analogue to digital TV signal, recently announced price reductions for its 2 bouquets GOtv Lite and GOtv Value as part of its festivities to mark its 5th anniversary.

“In the last five years, GOtv has lived up to the promise of helping Kenyans to not only migrate successfully to the digital platform but also allowing them to take advantage of access to an increased number of television channels and picture clarity compared to what they received with analogue terrestrial devices at affordable prices,” GOtv Kenya General Manager Mr Felix Kyengo said.

The pay-tv which could only be accessed in Nairobi and Mombasa back in 2011 can now be accessed by Kenyans in more than 30 counties.

REDUCTION OF PRICES

Due to the high cost of living, the price of a GOtv decoder has also seen a massive reduction from close to Sh 10,000 to just Sh 1,399 in the past five years.

The price of subscription fees has also been reduced tremendously to enable Kenyans access great family entertainment at affordable prices.

“We have done this because we take our subscribers’ needs to heart. We know what they want to watch and we go all out to make them access these channels. With our re-branding coming soon, we promise our subscribers more quality, more entertainment, more channels and more affordable prices,” said Mr Kyengo.

Director-General of Communication Authority of Kenya Mr Francis Wangusi called for collaboration among all major stakeholders in the industry.

“Play the game together and collaborate especially with the new challenges that we are facing especially in social media,” Mr Wangusi said.
