Police officer manning KCSE examinations dies
A policeman has died while manning the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations at Kapchepkoro Secondary School in Bomet County.
Police say their colleague had earlier complained of chest pain and also showed signs of breathing complications.
Mr Robinson Ndiwa, the Bomet County Police boss, confirmed the death.
“He had performed his duties well during the morning session but in the afternoon he developed complications before being rushed to the hospital,” said Mr Ndiwa.
The officer raised concerns to his supervisor who in return advised that he be taken to the Kaplong Hospital.
According to Mr Ndiwa, another officer was quickly asked to take over from the deceased at the secondary school.
He said his colleague died as he was receiving treatment at Kaplong Hospital.
Mr Ndiwa described the deceased as a great man and also humble who was attached to Sotik Prisons.
“Before the start of the KCSE exams, he was full of life interacting with his colleagues without showing any signs of weakness,” added Ndiwa.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is currently overseeing the examinations which commenced on October 29, 2023.
The students will be seated for the national examinations as from October 23 to November 24, 2023.
The government has announced that more than 900,000 students are taking the examinations.
