Popular KTN News anchor quits his job

KTN News bids adieu to business journalist and anchor Jimmy Mbogoh, who announced his departure in an emotional farewell message on Wednesday, January 3. After a fulfilling year of storytelling, Mbogoh is vacating the anchor chair, leaving behind a legacy of impactful reporting.

“To some personal news now, my time at KTN/KTN News has come to an end after what was a very fulfilling year of storytelling,” he stated on his official social media pages.

“We have told stories both locally and abroad in a year that has thrown us some serious curveballs, testing my skill endurance and passion for business journalism. I look back with great joy and pride for what we achieved.”

Mbogoh, a former K24 anchor and business strategist, expressed gratitude to colleagues, friends, and bosses who shared the highs and lows of the past year. In his farewell message, he extended a heartfelt “asanteni sana” (thank you) to those who supported him and acknowledged the opportunities given by his bosses.

Having joined the Standard Group in November 2022, Mbogoh brought with him a wealth of experience from the digital media space, and a previous anchoring role at K24 TV. His journey to this point included a three-year hiatus before landing the opportunity at KTN News, a period he described as a significant storm that helped him discover himself.

“It’s not been easy, but I’m grateful to everyone who’s held my hand in one way or another,” he stated during an earlier revelation about his challenging path.

At K24 TV, Mbogoh served until 2020, when the management faced a court order directing payment to journalists for breach of contract. Amidst his professional endeavours, he also managed his own YouTube channel, Business Hour, where he engaged financial experts in insightful discussions.
