The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced a scheduled power interruption affecting Nairobi County and four additional counties on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. The other affected regions include Homabay County, Nyeri County, Embu County, and Mombasa County.

The Ushirika Estate will be impacted in Nairobi, with specific areas affected, such as parts of Muratina Road, Mweni Road, Sergeant Kahande Road, and adjacent customers.

Homabay County will experience a blackout in Luore and Sofia Estates, affecting key locations like Royal Media Services (RMS) offices, Homabay High School, Homabay County Referral Hospital, Governor Gladys Wanga’s office, Kenya Medical Teaching College (KMTC), Tom Mboya University, Cold Springs Hotel, and others.

The power interruptions will also affect areas like Key Place, Staridge Hotel, Shauri Yako Estate, Tourist Hotel, Makongeni, Governor Gladys Wanga’s residence, Kandiege Market, Kodula Market and dispensary, Alum Beach, and adjacent customers.

In Nyeri County, Mweiga Town, Endarasha, Amboni, and Kanyagia will be affected, impacting locations such as Solio Ranch, Kieni Dairies, Watuka, Kamatongu, Mwireri, Embarigo, Sangare, Kanyagia, and adjacent customers.

Embu County’s power interruptions will impact Masinga, Mutuamwaki, Msingini, and Kyeeteni, affecting specific areas such as Masinga KenGen Camps, Sogea, Kamukunji, Mukusu, Kaewa, Kikumini, Kangonde, Ulutya, Makila, Kiseuni, Kwakwa Lodge, Masinga Boys and Girls High Schools, and adjacent customers.

Bamburi, Utange, and Kadzandani will experience power interruptions in Mombasa County.

Residents and businesses in the affected regions are urged to brace themselves for extended power blackouts lasting more than eight hours.

The expected loss of electricity may pose challenges to daily operations, requiring contingency plans to minimize disruptions.
