Riggy G creator celebrates DP Rigathi’s birthday

Ivy Chelimo, the brains behind the viral moniker that the Kenyan Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is known by,  “Riggy G,” extended her birthday greetings to the Deputy President.

“Happy Birthday, Your Excellency. Wishing you more life and blessings,” Chelimo wrote on her social media.

Gachagua, 58, is the eighth child of Nahashon Gachagua Reriani and Martha Kirigo.

He proudly traces his roots to the Mau Mau movement, a secret resistance movement organized in 1951 to fight against British colonial rule in Kenya.

His parents were Mau Mau freedom fighters in the Mt Kenya forest, where his father serviced guns for the group while his mother was a food and ammunition courier.

The DP is the younger brother of the late Nderitu Gachagua, the first Governor of Nyeri County.
Before assuming the presidency, Mr Gachagua served as the Mathira MP from 2017 to 2022.

Meanwhile, leaders, friends, and Kenyans from diverse backgrounds took to social media on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, to celebrate the 58th birthday of Gachagua.

Mr Gachagua, affectionately known as Riggy G, was born on February 28, 1965, in Hiriga village, Nyeri County.

The father of two is happily married to Pastor Dorcas Gachagua, who, in a video shared on her official Facebook page, showered praises on her husband, the second in command.

Pastor Dorcas described him as an extraordinary man, best friend, husband, and father to their children, expressing heartfelt birthday wishes.

“To my dear husband, my dear friend, and companion—the father of my children—I send heartfelt birthday wishes,” she said.

Gachagua was elected alongside Dr William Ruto as President and Deputy President, respectively, in the 2022 general elections through the Kenya Kwanza alliance.

Pastor Dorcas further praised him as a dedicated leader and emphasized his warm nature as a father, husband, and great leader.

Despite his stern public demeanor, she highlighted that he is a wonderful man dedicated to serving his nation and family.

“He is a great man. He loves God and his people and serves with unparalleled dedication,” she added.
Karen Nyamu, a nominated senator allied to the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, also extended her birthday wishes to the DP.

“Happy birthday to my boss, the fearless fighter and truthful man H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, EGH. You have outdone yourself in your role as Deputy President, and I can’t help but admire the natural that you are. You have won our hearts with your love for the country and your humor. On many occasions, I have laughed hard but I have also been inspired,” Karen stated on her Facebook page.

The senator referred to DP Gachagua as the ultimate man Mt Kenya is proud of, alluding to his influence in the region.
