RIP: Who was King’ori Mwangi? Retired police boss who has passed away
Former Police boss Zachary King’ori Mwangi has died.
Mr King’ori passed away on the morning of Sunday, February 11, in a hospital in Nairobi where he was admitted.
The family said in a statement will keep updating the public on the progress of the burial plans.
“We wish to inform the public of the death of Mr King’ori Mwangi, a retired police officer. He passed on this morning at a Nairobi hospital where he was receiving treatment. The family will update the public of the burial plans,” the statement read in part.
Before being the police boss in the National Service.
He was the provincial police boss in Nairobi, Mombasa and Western.
Nairobi News has established that the former police spokesperson had undergone an operation but his health kept on deteriorating.
Mr King’ori joined the National Police Service with a first-class honours degree and trained alongside Secondary School graduates.
He is amongst the few officers who clawed their way up the ladder of the police service very fast. It took him only nine years from a civilian to a gazetted officer (Senior Superintendent).
The only time he ever spoke in public was when his wife, Mercy Wangiri, passed away in February 2019.
Ms Wangiri, a lecturer at Nyeri National Polytechnic, died of cancer.
