Senator Khalwale trolled for disclosing his ‘unbelievable’ Hustler Fund loan limit

Kakamega senator Dr Boni Khalwale is yet again the subject of harsh criticism from Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) after he disclosed his Hustler fund limit.

Dr Khalwale shared a screenshot of the text message he received regarding his loan limit, revealing that he was given a limit of Sh500. In addition to this, the senator said he went ahead to take the loan.

“This afternoon, I’m pleased to have successfully joined the Hustler Fund family. Am now a proud account holder, complete with Sh475 credit and Sh25 in my savings,” Khalwale tweeted.

Online, the senator was bashed for sharing the text message and taking up a loan that according to them he does not need.

“Kindly delete this tweet. That fund was meant for hasolas. You are an elected senator with huge emoluments,” @shadipaul said.

“Which business have you started with 475? Have you paid tax?” @Dykemae tweeted.

“First of all a high transacting individual like @KBonimtetezi cannot have a limit worth 500 bob. Second, Mhesh bana hii nayo ni mockery tu kwa huyu Mkenya hana kakitu bana man,” @benarflash wrote.

“This afternoon, I’m also pleased to successfully remind the Hustler family that Khalwale, a proud Senator holder, has never shared his salary and savings which amounts to millions per month with you on Twitter but has seen it wise to share 475/= with you. He’s mocking hustlers!” @AldrinSimbaa said.

“What have you done with the cash? I need to get some business ideas,” @wanjiku_lm said.

Since its launch on December 1, 2023, the fund has disbursed Sh17 billion to a total of 15 million Kenyans, who have since saved up to Sh850 million.

According to President William Ruto, 18 million Kenyans registered for the fund, out of which 15 million have borrowed some money.

Out of this, 14.2 million are regularly servicing their loans, while some 800,000 have challenges, because they have exceeded the time they needed to pay.
