Nairobi Senator Gideon Mike Sonko Mbuvi has told a court that he has a secret video recording  capturing the moment a senior City Hall official attempted to bribe him with Sh7 million.

The flambouyant senator also denied receiving the bribe from the Nairobi county Chief of Staff George Wainaina.

The bribe was meant to induce Senator Sonko  to drop a complaint over corrupt and fraudulent activities of some officers of the Nairobi county government.

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) have also  told court that they acted as per their mandate in having Mr Wainaina arrested and charged following a complaint from Senator Sonko.

They contended that the investigations were conducted properly.

Mr Wainaina has sued the Senator, the DPP and the anti-graft commission for silencing him for blowing the whistle on corruption at City hall.

The High Court on January 18 temporarily halted his trial while the sued parties were asked to respond to the suit.

Justice Lenaola on Tuesday set the hearing of the case on February 15
