Stephen Letoo quits as chairman of men’s conference, embraces monogamy

Media personality Stephen Letoo has announced his resignation from his self-appointed position as chairman of the men’s conference.

The decision, he said, came under mounting pressure, particularly following his recent wedding at the Ole Ntimama Stadium.

In a video statement, Letoo revealed that he had been forced to cut short his honeymoon to address the nation on his leadership.

Despite his past advocacy of polygamy, Letoo and his longtime partner, Irene Renoi, celebrated their union in a vibrant public wedding at Ole Ntimama Stadium in Narok County on Saturday, April 20.

“I have been forced to cut short my trip to Zanzibar to come back to the country to deal with the departmental issue regarding the leadership of the men’s conference that I have been leading as chairman,” he said in a video.

Letoo went on to say that he had resigned as chairman and that the committee was looking for a replacement.

However, he did not reveal the main reason for his resignation.

“After soul searching and seeing what has been happening online, I have come to the decision to step down as chairman and have therefore tendered my resignation to the Nairobi-based Men’s Conference office.

I will take up this position with immediate effect. This decision has come about after a period of soul-searching and consultation with my friends and allies inside and outside the country. I have decided to relinquish the seat and allow members to seek a replacement for the time being,” Letoo said.

Before his marriage, Letto had promised to marry seven women and advised men not to go on honeymoons with their wives.

However, he has since contradicted his own advice by going on a honeymoon with his newlywed wife.

Letoo and his wife jetted off to Dubai for their honeymoon.

The journalist’s wedding sparked a range of reactions from netizens, with some feeling betrayed by his decision to embrace monogamy.
