Travellers lament as SGR mobile booking service goes down

The launch of mobile booking service for the new train came as a relief to many but little did they know that the number given would be constantly busy.

Nairobians have taken to Twitter to lament how the service is unavailable as the booking number is constantly busy and for the few whose calls went through they were turned down and told the system is down.

Kenya Railways is running the new train system in collaboration with the China Roads and Bridge Corporation and the two firms last week unveiled a mobile service for booking train.

Kenya Railways managing director Atanas Maina confirmed to Nairobi News that there was a technical issue on Monday and Tuesday.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

“Thank you for bringing it to my attention that it is still not working as I will enquire immediately and ensure that it is up and running,” said Mr Maina.

The firms shared the number 0709388888 as the one to be used to reach the customer service and make a booking, the clients were to get a text message detailing their ticket information then only print out the ticket on arrival at the station on the date of travel.

This was great relief to travelers as in the past they would be required to go to the Nairobi Syokimau terminus three days before travel and make a booking.

The mobile booking has now failed many Nairobians who took to Twitter to share their disappointment.
