Ugandan singer Lillian Mbabazi risks eviction from Kampala home over rent arrears

Lilian Mbabazi, the baby mama to the deceased Ugandan singer Mowzey Radio, is at risk of eviction from her residence due to unpaid rent arrears, as reported by Ugandan media outlets.

According to reports, Mr. Sitran Deshpande, Lillian’s landlord, entered into a rental agreement with her on February 21, 2018.

Under the terms of the agreement, Lilian was obligated to pay a monthly rent of Ugx 1.5M, equivalent to approximately Sh 59k.

For reasons that have not yet been disclosed, however, she has failed to meet her obligations since April 2022.

This situation prompted the landlord to take legal action, and his lawyers issued a notice of claim to the former Capital FM (Kampala) radio presenter.

It is further alleged that Lilian has been evading communication regarding the matter.

In response to these reports, Lilian, when contacted, denied allegations of non-payment of rent and expressed her willingness to meet with the concerned parties to address the issue.

She hinted the delay in making payments was due to circumstances beyond her control.

She emphasized her intention to settle the outstanding rent obligations.

As part of the ongoing legal process, Lilian Mbabazi has been requested to appear at the Konge Police Station on September 28, 2023, to facilitate the authorities’ access to the property.

Mowzey Radio, renowned for his musical contributions and collaborations with fellow artist Weasel, tragically passed away in February 2018 following an altercation with a bouncer at a Kampala nightclub.

Lilian Mbabazi shared two children with the late artist.

During Mowzey Radio’s 38th birthday celebration, Lilian expressed her commitment to continuing to commemorate his birthdate.

In a heartfelt message on Twitter, he wrote:

“I will always choose to celebrate the day Moses was born. Because he was born, I had my children because he was born, I met him because he was born, music in Uganda was changed because he was born, many musicians have been inspired. Happy birthday my love. We miss you. RIP.”
