Understanding Raila’s close ties with media personality Lindah Ogutu

Kenyan media personality Ms Lindah Oguttu has been trending since Tuesday, March 21, when she posted a message that did not bode well with a section of her followers.

Her remarks came following the announcement that was made by the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya leader Mr Raila Odinga asking his supporters to boycott some of the products in the country in line with their demonstration against the government of President William Ruto.

“I have banked with KCB from the days I earned 5k. They have walked through this life with me. They have offered so many services that have made a huge difference in my life. Have never had issues with their service. So I ask with humility, why are we to boycott KCB Group please?” Ms Oguttu asked.

Mr Odinga listed several products that his supporters should cease using as a way of mounting pressure on the administration of President Ruto to yield to their demands, including lowering the cost of living.

While her opinion was against the Azimio leader’s order, Ms Oguttu has been a close friend of the former Prime Minister.

In March, seven years ago, when a media personality lost her father, she said that she was only left under the care of her new father, Mr Odinga.

“My father may have gone, but he has left me in the hands of my 2nd father Raila Odinga. Thank you for your support,” the former news anchor posted on her social media accounts.

By then, Ms Oguttu was anchoring news at KTN, a position that she held until 2021.

In May 2021, during the leadership of the former Head of State Mr Uhuru Kenyatta, Ms Oguttu was appointed as head of the secretariat at the Football Kenya Federation transition committee.

Following her new role then, Ms Oguttu tendered her resignation to concentrate on a state job with other 27 members of the committee.

“I have taken a sabbatical leave from The Standard Group Limited to serve the FKF Secretariat. Tukutane kwa futa,”

Her role ended in May last year. She was among the applicants vetted for the Cabinet Assistant Secretary (CAS) position, a job she did not get as President Ruto awarded his close allies, mostly those who lost in the last election.
